The 0th Annual SavageMan Triathlon

RSVP here for SavageMan, please. Please specify in the RSVP comments whether you intend to participate, whether you expect to attempt the full SavageMan, the MeekMan, some combination of the two, or would like to volunteer instead.

Welcome to the information page for the 0th Annual SavageMan Triathlon, to be held on Saturday, October 7.

That's all for now. This was a quick first cut of information so I'm sure to think of more things and post them, so check back often. Send additional questions to kyleyost@gmail.com or post in the Comments section. If you are interested in participating or volunteering, RSVP here - and soon!

For those of you who have been out to this area with me before and trained on this terrain (and climbed Westernport), please add to this information by posting your thoughts on Savageman and your experiences on this terrain in the Comments section.

Comments:
Ok this is killing me because:

(1) I was "there" for the original SavageMan idea inception;

(2) I will be vacationing overseas during both those weekends; and

(3) This area has the best riding, swimming, and running areas I've ever experienced. The riding in particular is unforgettable, I hate the thought of missing this.

If you are reading this and thinking "maybe", just do it, you will not be sorry.

If 0thSM slides to another weekend, I will be there. Or maybe I'll just do it on my own another time.

If it's self-supportecd I just might have to bring two bags of gorp with me.

Even since June my only goal has been to be able to run 13 miles by Savageman. I am out of town on 9/23 but Oct. 7th works for me.

Ok, I just want to throw in my $0.02 since I've done the bike route twice now (without the very steep block...I'm not afraid to be a wuss). Like Kyle said, it's HARD, the 6-7 miles out of Westernport are the hardest I have ever ridden. So hard that you may want to cry. Which is ok, because none of you will be the first, or even second person to cry on Westernport Rd. The title of "First person to cry on Westernport" belongs to me, unless Kyle was crying and we didn't know. It's challenging, but so beautiful out there that it's definitely worth a little pain. And the lake is wonderful. It's so clean and clear, and you'll want to swim all day. I encourage all of you to do this if you can.

I'm hopeful that it will be Oct. 7th because I'm out of town on Sept. 23rd.

What Julie said; October 7th is better than September 23rd. Haig

Damn! Damn! Double Damn! This is where I friggin' LIVE but I doubt if I can do it. (Julie sent me.) I have swum right there and biked and run just about every section of the course (except Westernport and the trail section) in the last couple years. I'm doing a the 2.4/112 AquaVelo at ChesapeakeMan Sept. 30 and don't know if I could handle this monster a week before or after, AND still complete IronMan Florida a month later. I am so tempted. Been biking in these here hill 5 years, I know what it is. SavageMan.... coolest triathlon name ever conceived.

What? Not even T-shirts?

having just ridden the deep creek ride 2 weeks ago, i have to assert this is a can't miss event. what a crazy, unbeatable day in the saddle.

I sink like a rock...can I wear some water wings? I might come just to meet this Liza..funny. Wish I could be there. Try to get Rich from Florida to come...he loves that iron man stuff.

I realize I'm coming to this site way late in the game... but I'm curious, how did the event go? Will there be a 1st annual SavageMan on this course? It looks awesomely savage!
